The undergraduate program in Letters aims to have professionals qualified to demonstrate mastery of verbal language and metalanguages, as well as understanding of linguistic and literary phenomena, thus enabling the production and critical reception of multimodal texts of different genres. In addition, students will develop the ability to reflect theoretically on language, recognize linguistic and cultural diversities, and have mastery of new technologies, knowledge on Libras and socio-environmental, ethical and aesthetic issues related to ethnic-racial, gender, sexual, religious, generational and socio-cultural diversity.
The Letters graduates will be able to act in Basic Education or other educational environments, aware of the role of language in the formation of subjects and its social responsibility in developing language skills, essential to the insertion and acting of citizens in society.
As a professional of Letters you will have skills and abilities to work in Basic Education or other educational environments, aware of the role of language in the formation of subjects, understanding it as a constitutive factor of human experience, indispensable for cognitive development, identity building, social interaction, and critical knowledge of local and regional particularities.
