Health

The health care offered to students by FURG is based on promotion and prevention. Throughout the academic year, many activities focused on health and physical wellbeing promotion are offered to the university community.

Psychological care

Aware of the growing demands on mental health in the academic environment, our university provides some spaces for those who need support.

Therapeutic Group: It is a place where psychology professionals welcome, listen and guide students. Meetings are held on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. in the auditorium of the Pro-Rectories building and you do not need to be scheduled in advance.

Individual Psychological Care: Any student may have access to free appointments with psychologists by scheduling in advance. It is possible to schedule an appointment at the Pro-Rectory of Students Affairs, from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Pro-Rectories building. The Psychological Care Center (“CAP”) at FURG also provides free individual appointments of clinical psychology to the academic community. CAP is located at the Psychology building, in Carreiros Campus, and can be reached by the telephone number +55 (53) 3293-5234.

Meeting and Visiting Groups/ On duty at the Student Houses: PRAE’s psychological care service carries out systematic visits to the residents of the Student Houses aiming to offer access to psychological appointments and to promote mental health activities.

Courses, groups and meetings on Continuing Education: PRAE’s staff promotes periodical activities to assist students who are in situations of anxiety and insecurity caused by academic life. In this regard, they offer activities about how to manage learning time, insertion in the university, organization and presentation of studies, in addition to training pedagogical support scholarship holders.

Basic health, urgency and emergency care

FURG doesn’t have its own first aid structure for students. However, at the CAIC building in Carreiros Campus, there is a Basic Family Health Unit. As in all Basic Unities, appointments are exclusive for people who live in the area covered by that Unit, as well as students who live in the Student Houses inside the university campus and its surroundings.
