The undergraduate program in Agroecology aims to prepare professionals to work in Brazilian family agriculture, building up a qualified theoretical and practical training to carry out diagnosis, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in the process of creating emancipatory technologies appropriate to the reality of communities and rural organizations, from a sustainable economic, ecological and social point of view.

Occupation area
Agroecologists works in the analysis, planning, execution and monitoring of farming production systems, considering aspects of economic, environmental, social and cultural sustainability in an integrated way. Fields of activity include rural properties, cooperatives, associations, universities, technical schools and other governmental and non-governmental agencies.
Professional profile
Professionals of agroecology promote the recovery and protection of soils; water resources and ecological processes; ecologic and organic production; rural property management; the formation of associations; cooperatives and networks; protection of the workers’ and consumers’ health; the sustainable management of agroecosystems; and the production and propagation of knowledge, technologies, services and products in its occupation area.
